I have been sewing. I ordered this fabric from fabric.com several years ago. It was called "silk denim." It's a type of raw silk. I washed it before cutting and it came out a nice soft hand.
The top is Louise Cutting's "By Popular Demand" top. I made the top a long time ago. I couldn't decide whether to make a skirt or slacks at the time so I guess I lost interest. I would see the top hanging in the closet and think, "I must do something with the rest of that fabric!"
I didn't have enough for full length slacks so I used my "one seam capri" pattern. I had some white china silk in the stash so the capris were lined with that.
I think I will enjoy this outfit, and I'm really glad it is finally finished!
I've also finished another pair of capris (not one seams), and I almost have the matching knit top completed. Hopefully, I be able to post about it and share a photo in the next couple of days.
What a fantastic color! I think that will be a great summer outfit. I love that pink!
ReplyDeleteYou totally own that color! It's gorgeous with your skin and hair. Wow! That's a nice outfit. The top looks like it would be easy to wear and comfortable in hot weather. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteOooh what a nice color on you and flaterring with your withe hair!
ReplyDeleteSometimes when my mother (now 72 years old) accept to wear such "happy-spring-too-young-girly-color" I thinks she is radiant and I am not affraid to be old myself (I am a 38 mother of 2 baby)!
Many thanks to share this old and beautifull lady!
I love the outfit -wish it were mine. I wish you would tell us a little about lining the one seams.Do you treat the pant and the lining as one piece ? I have her booklet and pattern but have not tried it yet as I have been using the burda one seam for everyday capris but have never tried to line them. I would love to make some silky ones like you did as it would make lots more stash fabric available for them. Thanks ,mssewcrazy
