Here is a WIP reveal of my modified version of B5678. But first, the finished socks I started knitting during the sewing of the Silhouette Jacket.
Now, on to the blouse. I have yet to decide on buttons, decide where I want the hem, and hemming the sleeves.
I was so taken with the many versions of this pattern that Rhonda brought to life on her blog, I had to get the pattern and try my hand on at least one version. I loved the look of the raised neckline. You will find the her tutorial here: Rhonda's Raised Neckline tutorial
Several weeks ago I muslined the pattern minus the collar. After I tweaked the fit to my satisfaction, the project was put on hold while I worked on the Silhouette jacket. And by the way, a big THANKS to you for the compliments on my jacket. I do appreciate you taking the time to stop by and post a comment.
I then followed Rhonda's instructions for redrawing the center front/back pieces to the best of my ability to reflect the neckline. Once sewn together, I could tell it needed a few more tweaks (and Rhonda said it might need a few). So glad I followed her recommendation to add a back seam. I pinned in some shaping at the back neck area and also at the shoulder seams.
Below you see a close view of my version of this neckline. I like it! The fabric is a cotton that I picked up at the last ASG meeting from the "free fabric" table. I didn't know what I would do with it, but I loved the colors. This will be a nice spring blouse, don't you think?
Here I'm trying to decide on buttons. Right now, I am leaning toward the yellow one on the right. It actually has a yellow swirl on a clear background.
I cut it with the shirttail hem, but I'm thinking of cutting it off as shown in the first photo. As I mentioned, right now it is still a work in progress.
I've had so much fun playing with this pattern and Rhonda's version. Thanks Rhonda for being so generous to share so many projects! You're the BEST!
Still haven't had an occasion to wear the jacket and get a photo.....soon I hope!
I still have a T-shirt on my mind. I'll probably peruse my knit fabrics next for a quick project.
This is a great little shirt. Love the colors. And wow - so many good choices for buttons.
ReplyDeleteIt 's looking good! Love the neckline and the yellow buttons too.
ReplyDeleteAs I scrolled through, I saw the blouse before I read the text and I thought to myself, oh wow, I love the neckline! Then I saw my name!!! You did an incredible job. Thanks for taking a chance on my instructions :)
ReplyDeleteLove the socks BTW. I really need. To start another pair.
