Sweet Little Christmas Dress

My little grand niece was born on November 5, and how sweet she is!  Our sweet little girl was born with a club foot, but none of us panicked.  Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas works miracles!  I've seen it done before.

Little darling has had casts put on her leg each week for the past 5 weeks and will get one more before the next step is done.  I am more than happy to report that she is progressing wonderfully and is such a good patient!

So, because of her cast, Niece asked if I would make her a long Christmas dress to cover the cast.  Of course I would!  Niece picked the pattern, fabric and lace.  She picked not my favorite fabric to sew (velvet), BUT I was absolutely mum!  I knew I could survive by using the walking foot and hand basting if necessary.

Working on a short time frame, I finished the dress yesterday and delivered it.  I have not seen it on precious one yet, but I know photos will be forthcoming.

Niece chose this Simplicity pattern:

I sewed the XS which was according to her body weight.  Hope it all fits and meets with Mom's expectations!
