Receiving Blanket

I had high hopes of completing several of my UFO's that just need various hems, but alas, it never happened today.

Instead, I made this flannel receiving blanket:

using the "serger crochet edging" as illustrated on the Baby Lock site here. I played around with different threads and the pearl rayon is really pretty, but I didn't have enough blue to complete the project. So I used 12 wt sulky varigated, or blendables--don't remember the name right now and solid blue 12 wt. I think it came out pretty well. There were a couple of places that I didn't "catch" the serged threads, so I just went back and used a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine. This seemed to work fine.

I'll pick up more pearl rayon in blues and pinks next time I get a chance as I think I'll try this project again sometime.

The weather has become so wonderful. The highs this next several days are to be only 70's. So I need to spend time in the yard while the temperature is cooperating.

I have some rayon/linen in a teal that I want to make up as the Barcelona dress with some tone on tone machine embroidery. It's been calling to me these last few days. We'll see how the week goes.

That is really great. I bought the book & DVD called "Serger Crochet" from Nancy's Notions. Am looking forward to trying out this technique. You've given me some great ideas.
