BUT, after watching the webcast, I decided to "give hers a whirl." Let me say that the service was VERY QUICK. Now I do live just outside the metroplex, but I ordered the patterns around noon via her website and they were in my mail box the next day. Talk about fast.
First up is the one she used in the webcast, Sally's Pant #3200. I followed her measure instructions (made a size 12) and here is the first muslin with some adjustments made. I took out one of the front darts and took in the hip areas. My hips just don't have much shape; I'm pretty much straight up and down. The legs are a bit big/wide for my taste, but that's a easy thing to remedy. I was interested in the crotch fit (as so many of us are when fitting pants). I have to say, I pretty darned pleased. No extra wrinkles under the bum as I pulled the crotch up for a comfortable fit as per her instructions. I do think think these will work. What do you think?
I also ordered the Yoga pant pattern. I used some mystery knit that was in the stash. She has you drape the knit around your body and decide (based on the stretch of the knit and your own preferences) which size to use. If you are not familar with her patterns, the measurements shown on the envelope are FINISHED MEASUREMENTS not body measurements.
So, next up was the Yoga pant. Boy, knits are not kind to lumps and bumps when worn without "suck-in garments." I love the way the waist band is sewn with elastic inside the wide band. Easy to do and feels comfortable. I made a 14 based on finished measurements and the fact that this knit did not have a lot of stretch.
On this pair, I also straightened the hip line by taking in the "curve" at the hip area. I think I will made several of these. They are easy and comfortable.
I'm glad I tried this experiment. I think these will be become much used patterns.
Peggy has done four webcasts to date. The next one is scheduled for February 21. You can watch them "after the fact." Information about them can be found on her home page--look in the box at the right for the individual webcasts.
Thanks for the link to the webcasts. Your pants, both of them, look great!
