Enthusiasm is lost

And I wish it weren't.  Perhaps some of my enthusiasm busters......

*  Did get to the sewing room today.  Traced the Louise Cutting One Seam Pant pattern for my sister.  Then picked out some fabric good for a "wearable  muslin" should these work out.  Sis has lost some weight so the  past pattern I used, won't work now.  Got the pants sewn and ready for her to try on tomorrow.  Then I went to put away the newly traced pattern, and I couldn't find it.  Well, I'm always losing things in the sewing room, and then I find them in almost plain sight.  Not this time.  Found it in the other bedroom where one of the pups took it to chew it into pieces.  Oh mannnnn--- yes I can recreate with the few alterations I had made.  bummer

*  Went to a funeral Tuesday, the mother of a special friend I've known since about the age of 13.

*  The roads in our rural area have been "under improvement" for at least 4 months now.  Between one lane traffic and detours due to road closures, it makes getting anywhere a real $%^)(*.  Always have to remember to leave earlier to get the my destination if I have to be somewhere at a set time.  I HATE it, and I'm ready for everything to be finished!

* It's HOT.  40 consecutive days in triple digits.

* My shrubs, flowers and lawn are baking in the heat.  With watering restrictions (which I completely understand) make it difficult for things to survive.  I hate walking on "crunchy grass."

* The dogs are restless (probably one reason my pattern was chewed up today) since they have to stay in so much because of the heat.  They generally like to be out in the fenced yard several hours a day.  Did I mention it was HOT?

* I want to purchase two recliners for the living area, but I can't bring myself to begin looking for them.  Makes me hot and tired thinking about shopping for them.

* I'm realizing I'm sewing more things than I really need or wear.  I just don't need that many clothes now.

* Blogging seems an effort right now.  Taking and posting photos?  not right now--even tho I have some things to share.

Well, gotta run now.  Dogs are telling me it's time for their dinner (even tho it's really a tad early for them--restless!).

Hoping this, too, shall pass-------------VERY SOON!

  1. Hi, I wasn't able to search your blog but wanted to ask for more information about the ASG. I doubt I'm in your neighborhood group, but I don't know anyone who is in the one that might be mine. I'm close to uptown Dallas.

What do y'all do at meetings? What things do you do together, etc? I've had a couple of sewing friends in Dallas the three or so years I've been here but most are in the suburbs, and my house is too small to host any get togethers. The ASG sound like that might solve my problems!

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time of it lately. I hope your mood improves so you can do something you enjoy!

  2. I think the heat must be contributing a lot to your mood right now. Walking the two dogs here is just tiring even though they don't go far. Today our humidity dropped and the sky was brightt blue and I got some sewing mojo back again. Hope yours returns since I think the Kwik Sew bias dress is perfect on you and so cool for summer.

Somehow had missed your last couple of posts. We are not as hot as Tx but Ms is next in line with the heat and humidity. I have even been putting up the baby gate at noon and letting the two outside big dogs in to cool their heels. They don't even lay on the area rug just sprawl out on the tile. I have been obsessed with a loose house dress tnt and have been trying out a couple. This heat makes fit go all out the window as everything sticks to the sweat anyway. My first was an oop Petite plus 301 that has gathers under the bust which made me look very fat but am wearing it anyway. The second was simp 7676 oop that I bought online in two size ranges since it was straighter and has the gathers above the bust. I made a muslin and am sewing the hopefully wearable one now. I think I would like something straight like you did also. My mind is on cotton gowns and mumus and scrub like cotton tops during this horrid heat. We had road work off and on for two years in front of the house and it was miserable. Hope Tx cools off soon and gets rain. mssewcrazy
