A Little Break from Jeans

I completed the test pair of tweaked SA Sandra jeans and wore them several hours today.  What I learned in the long run was that the fabric was not great for testing a non-stretch jean pattern.  The fabric of unknown origin stretched throughout the day and bagged in some (sitting) places.

BUT, before the sagging began to appear, I learned that I need to snug in the waistband a bit more.  It had been interfaced and was stable so I'm comfortable that cutting the WB a bit shorter needs to be done.  Also, I want to play a bit with the placement of the back pockets.  They were a bit low on my (flat) bum.  I may make them a tad smaller also (like turning under a 5/8 seam allowance, rather than the SA standard 3/8).

The length of the crotch felt good in standing and sitting positions.  The back adjustments seemed to take away most of the excess fabric under the bum and in the upper leg.  I may want to tweak that later, but I will make the next pair with no other changes to that area for now.

So, I'm ready for the white denim (100% cotton) to arrive so I can play with the purple dye.  I'm sure I won't get the color I'm envisioning, but I'm sure I'll ultimately be happy even if I have to dye more than once.

Sorry, still no photos.  Still working on that new camera.  However, pics of the end of the wearing of the test jeans wouldn't have told you much anyhow.

I don't expect the denim until next week, so I hope to get some linen out and sew a pair of Louise Cutting My Swing Set pants and some sort of top.
