Some Saturday Fun

Being fascinated with bias cut garments, you can imagine that I loved the recent Clare Shaeffer article in the ASG Notions Magazine, "CHARLES JAMES AT THE MET."  After reading I kept thinking, I need to pull out my book on Madeleine Vionnet that I picked up a number of years ago after I saw the Balenciaga exhibit at SMU in Dallas.

While flipping through the magazine, I noticed an ad for Bias Cut Blueprints.  Hmm.  Had to go to the website and order the book.

Then, low and behold, I opened Rhonda's blog (I just love reading her blog!) and she mentions Julianne and the book that I had just recently ordered.  It arrived today!  Yea!!! It is autographed by Julianne Bramson.  Fun!

After lunch and errands, I was able to sneak away to the sewing room and begin looking through the book. It's WONDERFUL!  I read through the intro and first two chapters and thumbed through the remainder of the book while I was multi-tasking (downloading a new program on my laptop and monitoring its progress).

As soon as I can get some quiet, concentration time, I want to carefully follow the book instructions and create one of the tops shown in the book.

And this morning, while drinking a cup of coffee, I was checking out some free crochet patterns listed on Crochet at Play.  I also look at the knit patterns on the sister site Knitting at Play.  I really liked this hat called amazing-grace-blissful-slouchy hat.  So, on the way home from the gym this morning, I had to make a stop to pick up one of the recommended yarns to try my crochet hand at one of these.  It is now started, and I will work on it more this evening.  As soon as it is finished, it will go into the chemo cap donation bag.

The designer tells on her blog the beautiful story of friendship and how her Amazing Grace free pattern designs began.  She lost a lifelong friend to breast cancer much too soon.
