These two knit tops were completed within the last two weeks. Just had no motivation to get photos. This was a no make-day so I look pretty washed out. Not good, but at least photos are done.
This first one is Simplicity 1317, a very comfy "sweatshirt" style rayon knit. I think the stripe was a remnant from Joanns, and the black is from Fabric Mart. Both fabrics have been in the stash for some time. I like this pattern and will plan to make it again, but I think I will raise the neckline a bit. It's not that it's too low, I just think I want a bit more coverage at the shoulders and back neck.
If I remember correctly, this is a straight size M out of the envelope.
Next up is the Deer and Doe Plantain T shirt (the free download). This pattern has been printed out and taped together for months. I finally decided it was time to become a shirt! I pulled my Peggy Sager's T shirt that is close (if not already) a TNT for me and did some comparison. I basically cut the largest size with some modification at the shoulders (modified shoulder slope), the neckline (raised it by at least 1"), and the arm hole.
I had intended to make long sleeves, but I was limited by the amount of fabric. I think this rayon/lycra came from Joanns a couple of years ago. I think my original intention was to use this print in combination with another print or solid, but who really knows? It seemed like a good fabric to use as a "muslin" for this pattern that so many in blogland are raving about.
I do like this pattern and will plan to make it again. I will raise the neckline a bit more.
As far as knit tops go, these are winners for me.
