Have been sewing - can't seem to get thing's photographed or blogged. I hope this passes.
Have enjoyed reading other blogs and what you all are creating.
It's hot here, but not as hot as some July's I've lived through. (Of course, it is only July 5 and August is yet to come)
Humidity has been SO.BAD the last few weeks. Of course, we did have the flooding earlier and as an up-side, the stock tanks (AKA ponds in some areas) are full.
I can't seem to keep up with the mowing. (some has to do with said rain noted above).
I never did get a vegetable garden going this year. That's a first in a long time. When I had time, the weather wasn't cooperating and vise-versa. I do miss the fresh veggies!
Went to a July 4th party last night. Haven't done that in YEARS. Fun - albeit hot and humid. I wore linen--linen cropped one-seem pants (Louise Cutting) with the Pure and Simple shell (also Louise Cutting). Survived by staying inside (with A/C) until food served outside. By the time the fireworks began, the temps were actually tolerable.
One of my dogs is not tolerant AT.ALL of thunder storms and fireworks. She had her doggie downer pill and was sound asleep on the couch when I got home (even tho fireworks were going off all around us in the distance.) That happens when you live outside the city limits and when a burn ban is not in place.
I know some folks who end up with a top in which the neckline is too low wear a cami to keep appropriate things covered. Just finished reading a blog entry about that, in fact. Can I just say that the thought of wearing a cami under a top/dress in our heat JUST.MAKES.ME.CRAZY and HOT just thinking about it? Two layers of anything this time of year - NO NO NO! I cave to wearing a b-r-a when I'm out and about, but in the house when I'm not expecting anyone--no thank you. Is it just me? If so, I'm OK with that.
DGD asked for a tote bag. She sent a photo of one "she just loved" from Pinterest. Luckily I found the fabrics she wanted and got that done and in the mail. Yes, I have photos and plan to get it on the blog eventually. She's happy and grateful. (that makes me happy)
Have made a couple of linen skirts for myself and my sister. I've also been playing with muslins of some patterns I've not sewn before. With them fitted, then when the notion strikes to sew something, I'll be ready with a pattern that I'm comfortable will work.
Hopefully, I'll get back into the blogging routine soon.
It's great to hear from you again!
ReplyDeleteStay cool!
AZ desert dweller here. I totally relate to linen and as little clothing as possible. A tightly fitting cami under a tank top sounds way way too hot to me also. You are not alone. --LindaC in AZ
ReplyDeleteI hear you with the extra layers... summer in Brisbane is like that and the thought of extras like camis is frightening. Of course it's cold (for us) here now.
ReplyDeleteLinda - do you live near Houston? I live just north of the city and we've experienced lots of flooding and now hot, humid weather as you've described in your post - just curious. Karen in Humble, TX
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, not near Houston. I'm about 35 miles SE of Dallas in Kaufman county.
