While cruising Ebay last week, I ran across this pattern and HAD TO HAVE IT. It looks so summery (and cool). It arrived today from Canada--pretty fast delivery. I rummaged through some of the "summer fabric" in the stash and came up with this:
It's a nice, soft cotton. I traced the pattern this afternoon. I seldom get into the sewing room after dinner and kitchen clean-up, so it will likely be tomorrow before it gets cut out.
Prior to that, I decided to finish the dying process begun months ago. I blogged about it, but haven't gone back to research how long ago it was. Anyhow, I found the dye, Ocean Blue by Dylon. I had used it on this fabric back then, but I needed to overdye again because it wasn't as dark as I had hoped.
I set up shop:
Pretty professional, huh? Empty cat litter container as the dye tub. Hey, it works!
The fabric began life as a tan/beige linen. It is now a pretty shade of blue, a bit like blue chambray. I'm seeing capris and loose blouse.
I hope to sew a bit the next few weeks. My sister had cataract surgery these past 2 weeks. The first eye done Tuesday a week ago and the second eye, this past Tuesday. So, I was busy driving her back and forth to appointments and check-ups. All went very well, and she now doesn't have to see the doctor for one month.
I'm going to try to concentrate on clothes that I really NEED--more capris and tops for the summer.

Love the necklin on that pattern. The fabric and this pattern equals fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI have ordered some burdas from Canada as well and pleased - no place to get them around here. I am thinking cool and what I need to wear to stay cool as well. I love the print and your pattern choice. The cat litter bucket for dye is great - I have a soft cotton sheet I want to try to tint and do not want to put dye in my washer. I also have a cat so getting a bucket won't be a problem. mssewcrazy
