Waffle knit

I've actually made something! I found this blue waffle knit at one my fabric haunts for .50/yd. I bought the piece - about 3 yds. Sis had asked for another sleep tank as one of her dogs decided the last one I made was a chew toy.... I washed the knit having no idea what I would use it for--then I thought--it's so soft - a sleep tank. The "pattern" was an old RTW one that had seen better days that she asked me to copy. This is the 3rd one for her.

I used burgandy fold over elastic (foe) to trim the neck/armholes. I slightly stretched the elastic as I sewed to pull in the neck a bit. This knit was really stretchy when sewn. Actually, I serged the seams and used that oh so wonderful differential feed!

The chilly weather has made me want more snuggly long-sleeved tops, so I pulled out
this KS 2874. I guess this can be considered a TNT for me as I think this may be the 5th or 6th time I've made it. I used pink foe to finish the neck. I simply serged the hem and left it at that. I LOVE it--it's so cozy!

So, this was some "quick and dirty" sewing I suppose, but it was fun and worthwhile for Sis and me!

  1. I imagine it felt good to you to sew again. And you got a couple of nice and functional tops. Great!
