Some months ago I had been playing with a muslin of Lana's jean. I was tweaking using Peggy's draping methods, and I felt I was very close to a final fit when the project went on the back burner. I don't remember the reason. Nevertheless, the back burner was where it sat for some time.
I pulled it out yesterday and tried the muslin on. It was still "pretty close." Among other adjustments, I had slashed the back and inserted fabric to give me more back crotch length to solve the "pull down" when I sat down. I had taken a tuck which took out almost an inch of fabric just below the crotch where there was too much fabric between thigh and knee. There were a couple more tweaks that I don't now recall. Today I pulled in the waist just a bit at the back yoke and made a few adjustments with the width of the legs.
I carefully cut a new pattern from the adjusted muslin and carefully folded and put the pattern back in it's plastic bag and into the plastic pattern box thinking, "I need to purchase some denim to give this final pattern a try." Later I remembered I had some denim in the stash that had already been washed with coke to soften it. It was then washed again just in detergent as I recall. And, lucky me, I found it quickly.
Before I needed to start dinner, I had just enough time to cut the fabric. So, I have a pair of jeans cut and ready to sew. Don't know exactly when that will be. I will exercise tomorrow morning, and I have a baby shower to attend in the afternoon.
I don't really *need* another pair of jeans, but I see this as a challenge. We'll see how it turns out!

I watched Peggy's webcast on pants fitting and had to make those same adjustments myself. Hope your jeans work out.
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to see how these turn out. I don't have this pattern but will probably get it one of these days.
