Saturday Snip-its

1.  It's cool here; into the 40's last night.  Thermometer reads 70 out on the deck now with the sun shining.  So welcomed!

2.  I voted last Wednesday.

3.  Haven't had much sewing mojo since the last of the jeans project even though I did get TAM #10 completed.  No sewing since then going on here.

4.  Put up some new closet-maid shelving in the sewing room.  Goes along with the recent "re-arrangements."

5.  Just finished the Dennis Byrd book, Rise and Walk.  I found it very inspiring.  He is the New York Jet football player that was paralyzed in a game against the KC Chiefs when he hit a fellow teammate the wrong way--with his head leading and facing down.  He entered the hospital a quadriplegic and left the hospital able to take some steps.  He continued to improve and now can walk.

6.  I pulled out the knitting bag yesterday and now have 2 chemo caps completed.  The staff at Southwestern Cancer treatment center are grateful for all donations they can share with patients.

7.  I'm sad and mad about  Benghazi.  As more facts come out, I get more mad.  I truly believe lives could have been saved--particularly the former SEALS who were killed after almost 7 hours.  They are true heroes.  God bless the families of each of the Americans who lost their lives in that terror attack.

8.  I was able to save about 15 lbs of pecans from the 3rd tree.  I was able to win out over the squirrels and crows with that 3rd tree.  They got 2 trees worth.  I've been shelling pecans along.  So good and fresh (and fattening!).

9.   I made it to Curves this morning.  I've been working at losing some weight to feel better and get into some clothes that had tightened up.  I'm 6 pounds down (WW).  My willpower has been stronger than I thought.  (I hope I haven't just jinxed myself.)

10.  I'm about half done with the pasture mowing.

Have a good rest of the weekend!

  1. Hi Linda, Glad to hear you had a good crop of pecans this year. It's cooler here too, leaves falling on the ground and decks. Glad we spent last weekend in Charleston SC instead of this one with that storm bearing down on the east coast.

Check out my Flickr photos to see who showed up to check out the birdfeeders. A large window overlooks that landing. One rainy day in August they were outside my sewing room window on the lower level.
