Fabric arrived today from Trim Fabric. I love linen/rayon blends, and it's becoming more of a challenge to find this blend, especially in nice prints. It seems that the linen/cotton blend is becoming more prevalent. Any how, I periodically check the Trim Fabric site and this visit I found these fabrics on sale and also took advantage of their summer 20% off sale. I also received some black 100% rayon medium weight knit which is not pictured. These are destined for the wash tomorrow, and I hope the navy and the blue will be made up soon. I have some ideas rumbling around in my head, but nothing concrete just yet.
Here is the Vogue top from this post. I'm now beginning to feel the love, but not sure it will be worn with its originally intended companion jean. The sleeves still need a hem which will eventually get done. I had to take the neck binding off and cut it down so it would snug up to my neck. I'm not totally happy with the quality of my sewing with the lower flounce/ruffle - whatever. This fabric was really creepy/crawley. It will do. I'm sure I'll be the only one that is ever aware of its shortcomings.
The are the RTW jeans I had planned the top around. I need to try them on together again. It's been several weeks. Then I'll see how I feel about the combo at that time. The top will definitely get worn with something. Jeans have the narrow leg and hit about ankle bone.
Time will tell. No time in the sewing room again today, but about 5 more rows on the crochet top. Slow and steady, right?
Linda, I would think the top and pants would look really nice together. When we were in Spain, I saw lots of flowery jean/pants with solid tops.
ReplyDeleteI have that top pattern and have never made it, but I know I will someday. I love tunic tops.
Linda, I LOVE that blue print; will you report back how it behaves in the laundry? And the blue top you made is lovely and is a perfect match for the print jeans/pants. And I'm going to add Trim Fabrics to my list...
ReplyDeleteMarvelous top, and what a vibrant color. I think it would look terrific with a dark grey or black pant. The RTW pants are so cute...
ReplyDeleteLinda - love that print, also wanted to say congratulations, you won the book giveaway on my blog. Email me and let me know where to send it.
ReplyDeleteYou will be so on trend with those jeans. The top is a gorgeous color and will look good with so many things. Fabric haul looks good, too!
