Katherine Tilton Top #2

Here it is - a not so very good photo of my latest knit top.  I LOVE this pattern.

Sorry about the photo.  I had it on to run errands today and thought I'd snap a quick photo before I took it off to put on my sweats.  I'm tired; this week has been crazy.

The fabrics are rayon/lycra.  The print is some I picked up at C&C Fabrics in Dallas when I took my friend and her visiting daughter to our favorite shops in the "so called Dallas garment district."  The solid  was a scrap that that same friend had given me many months ago.  It was left over from one of her projects and she's not a big sewer of knit, and she wanted it out of her way.

The color match of the purple was perfect!  The trim around the collar is a premade piping (also from C&C from a different visit).  It is red polka dot - really fun.

As you can see, I shortened the sleeves and narrowed the sleeve bands.  I wore it to my last ASG meeting and got lots of compliments.  They all loved the collar, and most of them hadn't seen this pattern.  I'm not sure why - could be that many of them are not garment sewers much anymore (preferring crafty and quilt items).  Are any of your guilds getting away from garment sewing?

Not sure what's up next EXCEPT cleaning the sewing room; I can barely walk through it at the moment!

  3. Great print. I bet you'll get lots of wear out of it. As for your sewing room, just remember, you are not alone ;)

  4. Hello Linda, I have sewn this pattern, I loved the collar detail. I made it for my mother-in-law for Christmas. She loved it. As for the guild and garment sewers membership, I'm the neighborhood group coordinator for the Houston chapter. I have seen a serious decline in garment sewers frequenting our meetings. It is my hope that we can change that.

  6. Such a gorgeous top. I love the purple and all the other colors too. Is this Vogue 8793? If so, then it is my favorite T too. I like the shortened sleeves and may make one like it. It looks like you altered the neckline too.Would love a close-up if you can. Nice work!

    1. Thanks, Martha. Yes, it is V8793. I didn't alter the neckline; it's just how it came out on me.

  7. This is a very pretty top - the colours really make it. It's wonderful to be able to make little t-tops that are actually very smart as well, and V8793 fits the bill well.

You were the first to respond about the jeans pattern, so if you could email me at sunnyb64 at yahoo dot com with your address, I'll get it out to you as soon as I can.
