I had my annual physical scheduled this morning with my doctor in Dallas. This has been scheduled for 6 months. First issue: we had another ice storm yesterday. Sleet and snow left quite a "white layer" on yards and roadways. Now mind you, it was 80 degrees on Saturday as I worked outside, and then Sunday it began dropping, and I think the a.m. temperature when the alarm went off this morning was 12 degrees. Yep, this is Texas. We are known for drastic temperature changes. What can I say?
I braved the roads this a.m. to get to the doctor in Dallas (about 40 miles from my house). It was slow going the first 20-25 miles. The freeway I took once I got out of my neighborhood was accident free according to radio reports. I saw only 2 vehicles that had not been able to negotiate the road safely and were at odd angles either in the median or in the side ditch. As long as I stayed in the "tire tracks" of the vehicles before me and kept the speed at 20-30 MPH, I was fine. Then after the 25 mile mark, the roads were remarkably clear, and I was able to go the posted speed limit.
Having allowed 1.5 hrs for the drive, I walked into the medical center with 10 minutes to spare. BUT, all the offices in the center were closed. Hmm. That's never happened before. So, my priority at that point was to get breakfast somewhere since I was not to eat before I had blood drawn. I suppose I'll hear tomorrow when my appointment has been rescheduled.
My car needed it's yearly state inspection. It was due at the end of February, but time got away from me. I had 5 days grace to get it done--so I drove by the dealership on my way home to get that done, have my tires checked, and get a new battery in my key FOB. So far, so good since no appointment was necessary. Of course it couldn't be that simple, could it? Fuel pump was leaking diesel - not good. It had been replaced under a recall 9 years ago shortly after I purchased the car. Time for another. Well, it had to be done, so pull out the credit card and wait for 2 hours and then I'm finally driving home. At least the problem was found before I was stranded and calling AAA. I guess my angel was watching out for me.
Roads were much better on the way home as the sun came out early, and while the temps were not above freezing, the traffic and sun had helped clear the roads.
Can't wait to see what tomorrow holds. I have a dental appointment, but the drive is much shorter - 7 to 10 miles on the backroads.
I have a new knit top to show you, but haven't gotten photos yet.

Gosh, what a morning you had! Stay safe driving in the snow!
