Quiet Machine

The machine has been relatively quiet since I last blogged. Seems like I've been running and running and, yet, I'm not sure where I've been.....that ever happen to you?

My sewing buddy and I went shopping on Tuesday. I picked up 2 pieces of fabric (which I haven't photographed yet) that have been washed and ready for sewing whenever the notion strikes. I also got more buttons....I love buttons....all these for $11.36 (plus tax).

I've been knitting with the knitting group. Here is my first pair of fingerless gloves. I don't have the thumb in the second one yet, but maybe this evening as I'm watching CSI. They are definitely not perfect, but should help keep my hands warm on those few days that we have winter here in central Texas.

Yarn arrived! I ordered yarn from yarn.com. I have a couple of spring shell tops planned, and we'll see if they ever get completed. I'm thinking ahead as I'm am having surgery on my left foot on December 31. Good way to spend New Year's Eve, yes? We don't go out anymore..too many crazies on the roads, so I usually spend it on the couch watching others celebrate. This year, I'll just be adding an ice pack and pain pills.

Anyhow, I'm hoping the new yarn will spur me on to do some knitting (rather than staring at mindless TV) while I'm spending lots of time with the foot elevated. Time will tell.

I am anxious to get the left foot done; I am doing very well with the right one. I am back in some of my "regular shoes" at times. It is still in the healing process and does give me those "zingers" now and then as the nerves reconnect or whatever they are doing in there. The evening swelling is to a minimum now unless I am on my feet practically ALL DAY LONG.

I hope to get a little sewing before New Year's Eve--there is still a couple of weeks til then, and Christmas will be quiet here this year.

  1. Ooooh, you have scruptous yarns! I love yarn just as I love fabric. It would be difficult to choose between them. I should knit some fingerless gloves. Lately, I've been stuck in the sock knitting mode. Good luck with your surgery. Sounds painful!

You are so brave to get the other foot done after just having this procedure. I hope you heal up really fast.
The yarns, fabric, and buttons are really nice looking. It is always a treat to see what you find at those neat places. mssewcrazy
