If you have ever used this pattern, you will know that the pants are almost finished by the time you sew the crotch seam--each leg has been hemmed and the front pleat topstitched. Ugh! So, yesterday afternoon (after I took a break and did some deep breathing) I did take the second right leg apart, pressed it and did carefully mark the RIGHT side of the fabric and resewed that leg making it a LEFT leg. I left sewing the waist band and inserting the elastic until today.
I made a Medium and the only alteration I made was to shorten the leg length about 2 inches. I will lengthen them slightly - about 3/8" the next time I sew them. I am 5'6" tall, but I am long waisted, thus the need to shorten the length. I think the butt fits well. I'll be able to tell more when I wear them, but I do think this is a keeper for me.
Next up will be the muslin for the Liberty Top.
The Vionnet book came today. I have just thumbed through it, but looking forward to getting into it this evening. All those bias cut patterns..........what eye candy!
Great job on the pants, the fit is fantastic! I really like the style, they look like they would be wonderfully breezy for summer.
ReplyDeleteThose are great pants, and you have the body type to wear them well. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteBummer! I hate it when I make a mistake like that. I'm happy that you persevered through the ripping and fixing. They look great!
