Photos Promised

Not great photos, but photos nonetheless.

Loes Hinse Criss-Cross Top.

Sewn in a mystery knit; I can't remember where purchased.  I realize you can't see details in this shot.  On me, the shoulders seam sat on my shoulder; not dropped as shown in the pattern photo on the envelope.  I'm glad.  I made a size medium and curved in more (maybe .5" on each side seam) at the waist to give a bit more shape to the top.  I had shortened the sleeve by 2" I think and with approximately a 1" hem, the sleeves are just about right.

This pattern is a pretty quick sew and the pieces fit together well.  I'm considering this as my wearable muslin as I don't know how this knit will wash and wear.  I do like this pattern and plan to make it again very soon.  This could probably work as a nice color blocked top.

Peggy Sager's Yoga Pant

I apologize for the dark, blurry photos.  It has been overcast here today so the lighting in the (trashed) sewing room was not optimal.

and I apologize for my dirty mirror.  The spots/smudges are on the mirror - not the pants.

I used gray ponte (rayon/poly/lycra) that I think came from Fabricmart.  It's a nice grade of fabric.  Using Peggy's instructions, I wrapped the knit around my hips and measured that to choose the size.  I cut a size 4 from the hips down and I blended to a size 12 at the waist (that middle aged thick waist - thank you very much!).  I did take each side seam in a bit to fit the tweaking after trying the pants on before I added the waist band.  I had 1.75" wide elastic in the stash so I used that instead of the 2" called for by the pattern.

This pattern is a real keeper for me.  I just need to remember that all knits are not the same; I'll need to wrap the fabric around me each time to choose the correct size for the respective knit/stretch woven fabric.

  1. Super little top and pants. Those Yoga pants are a huge hit. Everyone who makes them, loves them.

  2. What a lovely color that top is for you -- glad to know the 'wrap the knit around' tip works -- I need to stitch those yoga pants up myself.

  3. Great idea to wrap the fabric around you to decide how it will fit. I always worry over knits - how much stretch is really there? Good tip.
