I have been in the sewing room just a bit. The most recent creation was a sweatshirt vest for dear PupPup (aka, Pupper Dog). I purchased a doggie coat for her, but it wouldn't fit comfortably around her middle, thus it was returned. She's not overweight, but does have a broad ribcage. So, it was time to find a pattern and make her a custom coat, vest, or something to keep her a bit warmer in the cooler temps at night. Anyhow, the XL is a bit big around that area but definitely works for its intended purpose.

Here she models her sweatshirt vest trimmed in Aggie Maroon ribbing.
I picked up this nice mid to heavy weight sweatshirt fabric from the bargain table at Golden D'Or Fabrics in Dallas several years ago. It was on the .50/yd table. I got all they had (don't remember how much that was), and I've used it to make a pair of lounge pants for myself, a small dog bed, and a couple of other items that don't come to memory right now. The fleece side is white and quite soft.
I didn't want anything coming down on her front legs as I didn't want to take the chance of her getting tangled while sleeping curled up (one of her preferences).
I have a couple more things to blog about as time permits. If you are still with me and my blog after my "blog break" I thank you for hanging on. Life threw me a couple of curves that were totally out of my control and with the "normal" things I had going on, it was time to pull back and concentrate on coping skills and adaptation. I am adapting and coping.
Here's hoping that I'll be able to get into the sewing room on a somewhat regular basis now. I really must sew a few basics. I've lost some weight (a planned loss through WW online) that I plan/hope to keep off, so I need to revise/refit some TNTs and get busy.

Welcome back to the sewing room! Sometimes a break is needed to readjust to life. PupPup will be warm and snugly in her new coat - even dogs need special fitting patterns for their shapes. Looking forward to your next sewing projects..
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the weight loss. I'm not successful in that area of my life, since I've been a bit older. You'll want to make some new clothes now for your new figure.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
