It is now officially completed PJs for DGD for Christmas. You also see in the photo the Singer 403A machine. This was Mom's and the one I learned to sew on (with her help, of course).
My Janome 10001 is in the "hospital." It was making a terrible noise so I took her in. Liz, the lady that took her in heard her cries, but, of course, when Dale, the trusted repair tech, turned her on when he returned to the shop, she made not a peep. After talking with him, he decided to keep her for a few days and see what she did PLUS give her a good cleaning (which I'm sure she needed). Hopefully, she will get to come home this week.
It didn't take long to get "back in the saddle" with Miss Singer. She's a little workhorse. She brings back lots of memories--barbie clothes, 60's shifts, high school formals, etc. Of course, I did miss some of Miss 10K's "perks" like the needle down position, the automatic needle threader, making sure that the needle bar was in it's highest postion so that I didn't unthread the needle when I began a new seam. I actually like Miss Singer's ability to change to zig/zag with just the adjustment of the width bar at the top of the machine, and the quick adjustment of the stitch length with the little "up and down" lever on the front of the machine.
And one of the things I miss most about the old days of sewing on Miss Singer is being able to find Mom somewhere in the house and say, "look what I just finished!."
