Mostly WIPs going on here

Sewing time has been sporadic as of late.  With the heat, I've tried to do errands, and anything else that requires getting in and out of the car, in the mornings before the temps hit 105+.  As my dear late MIL always remarked about the excessive temps, "the heat is just oppressive."  Yes, it is, dear lady!

When I get home, house and other life duties seem to take up much of the afternoon and before I know it, I have an hour or less of sewing room time before it's time to decide on something for dinner, taking care of the critters, etc.  Then, as the temps begin to go below 90 in the evenings, it seems there's always something (as Gilda Radner would say) that needs to be done outside--giving the heat stressed lawn/trees/shrubs etc. some water, mowing, just "stuff."

Enough about that.  I've been playing with the Louise Cutting "Hearts a Flutter" (HAF) shell again.  I adapted the pattern (if it works out OK) for a front button opening with the lower front/back sections cut on.  I have it "put together" after a few stops and starts, and recuts.  I'll explain those later.  I do think it's gonna work out inspite of some of the glitches I've brought on myself.

It's silk dupioni.  I had hoped to get to work on it some today, but, alas, not able.  That's the way things go.

I have another HAF cut.  It is the standard "pull over the head" version with a lower neckline and the lower sections cut on.  I need to count the number of these that I have made.  I love this pattern!

  1. The HAF shell is one of my favorites too. I love that it is the *HAF shell* - sort of an ode to summer beach wear. Yours is such a lovely color. I look forward to seeing it completed too.

  3. Pretty color. I need to make this pattern. I've had it for some time. I do have a muslin of the overblouse, yet to be made into fashion fabric. Too hot everywhere, but especially where you are.
