Thoughts This Thursday

I wish I'd had time to sew today - alas, no time.  Life got in the way; it's been very busy lately.

I miss a couple of blogs.  Sew-4-Fun decided to close her blog.  Gigi hasn't blogged in over a year.  I DO UNDERSTAND, but doesn't make me miss them any less.  I learned so much from both of them and love seeing their lovely creations.

I received a package from Silhouette Patterns today.  YIPPIE!  A piece of fabric, 2 patterns, and 2 DVDs.  Looking forward to watching the DVDs.  This was from her flash sale honoring the Olympics.  37% off and free shipping.  Have to admit I.Love.Free.Shipping.

I've learned so much from Peggy Sagers and her free webcasts.  She is so generous to give us sewists her time and expertise at no charge.

I hope the Rottie dog doesn't have to have leg/hip surgery.  We go back to the Vet Friday (tomorrow) morning for another check.

I renewed my ASG membership this week.

Temp was *only* 102 today.  We need rain!

I've almost finished reading the library books The Last Brother (about Ted Kennedy) and The Killing of Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly.  Next up is the bio of Bill Gates.  I go through fits and starts with reading.  Sometimes on on a roll (like now) and sometimes not.

I completed TAM (sewing a top per month challenge commitment I made over on Stitchers Guild ) #7, but I have not taken photos to post just yet.  In due time.  Have #8 in the works and on the dress form as I type.  Still not sure of it's finish time.  It was on the dress form before I cut and sewed #7.

Am learning that I don't really need lots of clothes.  I'm finding that I really sew more than I need/use.  Just the nature of current lifestyle.  It's OK, I suppose.

I'm really going to TRY to cut back on buying patterns.  I have so many on hand that I REALLY WANT TO SEW.....and TODAY I see the new Sewing Workshop Pattern that looks like fun.  Nope, I haven't ordered and downloaded the pattern and hope the old willpower will hold for a while.

No time to sew tomorrow.  Two appointments will take up most of the day.  Sigh.............

  2. I also agree about both blogs, but I started a blog then closed it, have re-opened it but have been horrible about posting to it. I too go through spells of reading, then sewing, and life keeps me busy. We got rain last night & the night before !! Our heat wave is breaking with only a high of 82 today - yippee!!

  3. Ditto about the two blogs.

I really need to visit Peggy's site and take advantage of her tips. My work life ha consumed a lot of my sewing time of late. so many patterns, so many ideas and not enough time!

I like having a library of sewing dvds. Every now and then my back acts up and watching them makes me feel less useless during those episodes. I think it is an economical way to "sample" the teachings of some of those that are well known for those of us that don't travel and live in out of the way places. I am making more sleepwear and hard working basic pieces of cotton clothing as the heat/humidity here is awful. I can't seem to buy this sort of thing though it is really boring to sew. I am always wanting to sew some dress clothing though I can find that in the mall but not the at home stuff that I actually live in. I enjoy reading your blog and like you will miss those bloggers who stopped but not being a techy person and struggling to ever get a picture up don't know how they do all this all the time. Hope your rottie doesn't have to have the surgery-very distressing to face those situations. mssewcrazy

  5. I miss some blogs too. But it is monotonous sometimes to keep up a blog, which is why mine gets neglected. I really enjoy Peggy's webcasts and am watching every time she has one. My lifestyle is very casual. I seldom dress up anymore. Which is fine with me, really.

It can be a real time suck to maintain a blog, especially when you create tutorials and all those goodies. So I understand closing a blog. But I sure miss them.
