Well........and then there was plumbing

I had hoped to sew, but, alas, that was not to be today.

We've had a leaky bathtub faucet upstairs that was really getting worse each day. I decided after church I would take the faucet apart and run up to the hardware store to get a new rubber washer/gasket, put it back together and that would be that. Afterall, I've changed out washers in the sink faucet before. That's about all the plumbing I care to do, however.

Get the water to the house off, then take apart the faucet hot/cold knobs. Pull the thing apart and on the hot side, all the rubber is gone (no wonder the leak). The cold side looked pretty good. So I got the washer out to take with me to the hardware store. Hmm. Get to Ace and the sales person leads me to the right spot and there are many, many bins of washers. The closest one we could find was one that was not nearly as thick as the one I had brought along. Hmm.

Hated to make a trip to Home Depot 10+ miles away, but decided to go. If HD doesn't have it, I'll be back I tell my Ace hardware helper and hope these thinner ones will work (at least until I can get the plumber out). Home Depot has very few washers to choose from and the man tells me, since my house is 20+ years old, I'm not likely to find one. WHAT??????? So, back to Ace Hardware. By the time I get back home almost 1.5 hours is past. All that travelling!

Get home, go to work. At first I thought it wasn't going to work, but after the water was turned back on and I twisted the knobs a few times, I think (crossed fingers) the drip is no longer. I certainly hope so. If it holds, I'm going back to Ace to get more washers to have on hand as we have the same fixures in the other two bathrooms.

Needless to say, no time to sew since the horses were waiting to be fed. Maybe I'll get to sew a bit this evening.

So, all that to say, here are the patterns I bought yesterday at Hancocks. Most of them are for DGD.

Here's the pattern for the top I had hoped to sew for DGD today. I'm sewing View F, the white one on the lower right:

Here's the fabric that will become the front.
