A Little Mojo found

Burda 7832

Pattern Description: This is a T-shirt with a bit of a twist. There is not really any description on the pattern envelope.

Pattern Sizing: Burda European Sizes 34 - 46 which translates to American 8 - 20; I made a 16 (42)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I made View B (the one with the straight hem), and yes, I think so.

Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were pretty straight forward with decent illustrations. I was confused as to the instructions regarding neck band. I couldn't decide if the band was to be completely turned under (with none of it showing on the outside) OR if just the seam was to be turned under (with the band showing on the outside). I had already chosen to do a different finish, but that part of the instructions were confusing to me.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that it is a "different" T-shirt design. That's why I purchased it.

Fabric Used:
I used rayon jersey from Fashion Fabics Club. I purchased this fabric for a dress for my sister. This was what was left from that dress. Just enough for this shirt. I LOVE rayon knit

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I knew from looking at the pattern photo that I would have to raise the neckline. I brought it up 2" (and this was before I read the other reviews on this board). I also lengthened it 2". I can't handle the tops that show skin when I raise my arms. I finished the neckline and the sleeves with the "picot elastic" in pink. I pick this up when I can find it on my various shopping trips. I sew it on the right side of the fabric, then turn it under and coverstitch in place. Close up of neck/sleeve finish:

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will probably sew this one again. I will add about 1/2" to the back and I may raise the neck a bit more--maybe another 1" although this one is not too low for me.

Conclusion: I like this shirt. The feel of the fit reminds me a bit of the Tea Garden Tee from The Sewing Workshop pattern collection. I LOVE the Tea Garden shirt.

  1. Hey, that's a nice place to find the mojo! Have you got a new haircut, or have I just not seen a photo lately?
