You probably can't see in the photo very well, but the collar is much, MUCH better.
The following photo is my altered to the collar pattern.
This is all that I got done today in the sewing room. It took some time to rip the stitches of the collar. Thankgoodness I always increase my stitch length from the machine's default to 2.8 or 3. Of course, I had understitched the facing so I ripped the understitching, the stitching that attached the self facings to the dress, and the stitches that I had sewn to baste the collar onto the dress.
This new collar will be just fine, so I need to sew in the sleeves and go from there. I hope the sleeves to in easily. The pattern has you sew them in the round, but I plan to flat sew from notch to notch, then sew the underarm seam of both the sleeve and the bodice and THEN sew the reminder of the sleeve below the notches in the round.
Don't know if I'll get to it tomorrow. I'll have to play that by ear.
The temps are supposed to get low this weekend with maybe a frost so I might get a chance to wear my Nancy Zieman jacket. That would be fun!
I love what you did to the collar. I will have to remember this if I ever sew a cowl neck. The extra fabric makes it drape so nice. Well done! mssewcrazy
