Remember I said I hoped I didn't find anything I couldn't live without on our Tuesday shopping trip? Well, what you see above is fabric - SILK fabric - that I decided was a deal I couldn't pass up! I HAD to bring home this silk from Super Textiles. The charmeuse prints in the center were $2.50/yd. I purchased some silk - same print - different color background of the one with the cosmetic print a while back at another store in the same area. I paid $16 or $18/yd for enough for a sleep tank for DGD. Well, this is the same fabric and for $2.50. Can you believe it?
One of the turquoise and black are silk twills about 50" wide and the other turquoise is a bit heavier than a dupioni. All of these were $5/yd. PLUS - he gave us the ASG 10% discount on everything! All of these have been washed and are ready to sew.
Not pictured is some white china silk that is still in the laundry room waiting to be washed. It, too, was $5/yd.
So, I've added the new yardage to my fabric tracking. I really would like to get to "even" by the end of December (a net of 0). That remains to be seen.
Then, yesterday, on the way home from physical therapy (that story to follow) I picked up a task chair for the sewing room from Office Depot. It was on sale for $69 (from $99) and I had a $10 off coupon. I put it together last night and I'll give it a test later today when I plan to do some emboidery.
So, Physical Therapy -- I have been having pain in my left shoulder/bicep area with certain movement. No pain all the time. This has been going on for several months. I figured I pulled something and that it would get better. It was not getting better. So 3 or so weeks ago, I visited the shoulder doctor. He gave me a cortisone shot in the shoulder and ordered an MRI. The MRI showed a small tear in the rotator cuff. As a result of the injury, I've developed "something" incapsulation (I can't remember the exact name right now) which is commonly referred to as "frozen shoulder." He's now ordered 4-6 weeks of PT which I began yesterday. I go twice/week and have exercises to do at home each day.
The therapist feels I can get full range of motion back (without pain) through this process. I'm dedicated to follow through with this as I WANT THIS TO GO AWAY!
I think the original injury happened back in the summer while walking one of the dogs. Thankfully, I've still be able to do most things without pain (or much pain) like painting and installing the laminate floor.
Good luck with the shoulder injury! I feel your pain...
ReplyDeleteA couple of years ago I had a bone spur in my right shoulder that wore a hole through my bursa down to the rotator cuff. After two surgeries it was finally fixed and what a difference! I am so glad to be able to reach and stretch and move without pain. I won't take that for granted again!
You'll do it too... and you'll be right as rain in no time!
Oh... and I LOVE your silks! Such a deal!
I am so sorry about your shoulder injury - hope the therapy does the trick. The silks are wonderful- you will probably wish you stashed even more. Those are worth being space consumers. mssewcrazy
ReplyDeleteConsider, in addition to the physical therapy, doing some water aerobics classes. I went through the physical therapy last year also, but what brought back all the range of motion in my shoulder was the water exercises.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get a decent chair for doing my sewing. I always get so involved in what I'm doing that I forget to take "posture breaks"
