A few sewn gifts

I decided rice bags would make good gifts for the (adult) girls at the Vet clinic. I found some cotton fabric and just began - eyeballing sizes. I have a "bed buddy" that I purchased years ago (that I still use) so I kinda used that as a size indicator. I folded fabric and using my clear ruler, and cut a width of 5.25" and about 13-15" in length. That made a rectangle of 10/5" X 13-15". I serged (4-thread) the long side and the end. I filled with rice to about 1/2 of the "tube." I turned under the open end and sewed with a small stitch to close.

Then I found scraps of cotton flannel in the stash and made "pillow cases" to size. I cut them about 1" wider and 5" longer than the bag. I serged the long side, bottom and then put about a 2" hem at the opening.

Here you see the bag of rice and two "pillow cases." The Coke flannel is left over from some of DGD's pj's of a number of years ago. I just LOVE that fabric!

Anyhow, five are now completed and wrapped for next Saturday's gift exhange.

The two younger girls each are getting a leather coin pouch with ID holder. I figured they might not appreciate a rice bag at their young age.

I printed off instructions for heating using the computer program for "business cards." They came out pretty cute! So a card was attached to each rice bag case with a small safety pin.

Then, a family friend, who is "Pee Paw" to all the kids of friends and family LOVES HIS GOLF. I had embroidered him a golf towel a couple of Christmases ago and he requested another this year. So this one is his.

The design is a free design from Ann the Gran and the lettering is done with one of the alphabets purchased from the Embird.

I have some fun Vet Clinic photos to share with you later. They are residing in my cell phone right now
