Shopping? Black Friday??

Shopping the day after Thanksgiving? Not me. As my husband would say, "I'd rather be nibbled to death by a duck" than drive in the crazy traffic and play with the crowds and the long check-out lines. I have friends that THOROUGHLY enjoy the experience. NOT ME! The only time I stepped outside the house was around 4p.m. to begin feeding the critters.

No sewing to speak of that day, but I did "practice" with knitting needles. No, I'm not a knitter (I'd like to be). I had some 100% wool threat that had been given to me. For several years I've wanted a felted hat. So, I just began to knit--no pattern--just guessing and holding the "thing" up to my head. I'll post pics after the next wash/dry episode. It looks OK after the first washing, and I'm hopeful that I will be able to wear it when I feed the horses (and not embarrass them too much).

I did sew a bit Thanksgiving morning while the turkey breast was cooking. I had seen a sofa throw made from moleskin/sherpa type fabric at a specialty shop earlier in the year. For "finishing" the sherpa side was folded back onto the moleskin side (aobut 1" width) and topstitched. Corners were mitered.

As luck would have it, I found some of the fabric at one of my Dallas fabric row stores for $10/yd. They had three colors, but I picked the royal blue. I thought this throw would be good for my DD/DSIL's farm cabin. It can be used for extra bed covers or a sofa throw on their weekends there. It washes great. Fabric is 60" wide, so I just cut a two yard length and turned back approximately 1" all the way around. It's ready for mailing!

And for me? I bought enough fabric to make a short coat. Now I just have to decide on a pattern and then actually sew it!
