had been climbing up this side of the horsebarn this morning.
This pile is a combination of wild grapevine and wild blackberries that seem to show up EVERYWHERE. The birds love them! Not to worry, there are plenty left around the property. I just didn't need these climbing the barn and taking over. As you can see, I have more chopping to do.
It was pretty funny. As I was clipping the vines this morning, the youngest horse, Jacque, was as close to me as he could get. Every chance he got, he was resting his head on my shoulder breathing into my ear. Whatta flirt!
I say that to let you know that he watched while the "pile" was being stacked. After a while, I went into the house to take a break and while I was gone, he wandered further into the pasture, munching grass. When I returned to the barn, he saw me walking out and began to come to me. Then he got a glimpse of the PILE. He apparently forgot it was there and he came to attention, stopped in his tracks and stayed about 10' away. Poor guy, he doesn't like change! Afterall, that PILE might get him!
By the time I fed this evening, all was well and he came up to the barn without getting spooked.
See this? Nino (the oldest horse) is shedding. Each year, his coat comes out in clumps. This year is no different. Perhaps I should start spinning it!
And to end this post, the raised garden bed is ready for planting. I added some horse manure today and worked it into the mix. I hope to get a second bed built so I can plant more things. We'll see. This one will grow tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and squash for us.
