and DGD is on the other end. She brings me up to date on school, work, and boyfriend, and then the conversation goes something like..............
Hey Gram, I bought 2 sun dresses and they are really cute. They fit nice except the straps are too long. They fall off my shoulders. Do you think you could bring a needle and thread with you when you come up for graduation?
Me: I think I may need more that a needle and thread. I'll bring a sewing machine.
Oh Gram, don't go to lots of trouble, but I really like them, but I just can't wear them the way they are now.
Me: No problem hon, I'll put one of the sewing machines in the SUV. What color of thread do I need to bring?................
I love it when I'm needed! And I love it when, in her mind, I can fix anything with the sewing machine!!!!!
We, the grandmothers, can sometimes do what no one else can! Isnt' it the best?
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh - I'd do the same for my granddaughter. And we grandmas love to sew for the grandkids - you're a great grandma!
