Here's where I stopped today in the sewing process. I had just over an hour in the sewing room today. The sleeves are in and one cuff is sewn on. I was concerned that the sleeve would not ease in well due to the fabric, but it actually went in fairly easily. I attribute that to the well drafted Burda pattern. Thank you, Burda.
I altered the collar pattern to the Louise Cutting method. With this alteration of the pattern, there is only one seam which falls at the back center undercollar. If you haven't sewn one of her collars, grab one of her patterns and treat yourself to several of her techniques. This is what the unsewn collar looks like:
Here's what the collar looks like after the one seam is sewn:
I am pleased with my progress. I did shorten the sleeves by 5/8". When I tried it on, I thought this was necessary so I just cut a seam allowance off the bottom of the sleeve--very technical, huh? I like the way it fits me so far. Right now, I think I will get some real good use of this pattern!
Oh, your jacket is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat's going to be a fantastic dressed-up jean jacket! I love that style and especially when "glamed up"!
