Kinda blaa......

Haven't sewed any since the last post with DGD flowy top. Just couldn't get in the mood. Guess the mojo has left for a week or so.

I have been watching e-bay for vintage sewing items. Sometimes I just like to "browse" to see what is out there being offered. I had read Dawn's tutorial teaching the use of the old dritz bound buttonhole tool. I watched two auctions where one of these went for $32 and the other for $40 something. Outta my league.

I recently ran accoss an auction for the dritz welt pocket maker and there was a buttonhole tool along with it (although it was not identified as the buttonhole tool). So, I bid, and got it for $4.25. Not bad. They arrived today. Now to play with them to see if I like using them.

A few days ago, I was rearranging some things in our storage building and found a bag of flannel scraps from the various PJs I had made for DD and DGD over the years. They were in a plastic bag that had been torn so all the scraps needed to be washed. I was saving to make a scrap quilt. So now they are all clean. I'll pack up in a storage bin and maybe I'll tackle that later this summer when it's too hot to get outside. Maybe............

And finally, last Saturday while I was at the Animal Hospital where I work Saturday mornings, a client called wanting to know if we could take in 3 kittens. We don't normally take in animals for adoption as we would be overrun and we are a hospital not a shelter. But as I talked with her I learned that they were travelling behind a vehicle that tossed a "box" out. She and her husband stopped to see what it was thinking it looked a bit like an animal carrier. Sure enough, three kittens were inside. How scared they must have been and to think that had she not stopped they would have starved to death locked inside.

I agreed to bring them home. The Doc gave them their first shots and worming as they appeared old enough. My only problem is that one of the three got away from me in my garage and is now successfully hiding out from me. I have the other two in a large kennel with bed, food, litter, etc. One has become REALLY friendly. The other is coming around and the third which we have named "Fraidy" eats from his bowl, but runs whenever he sees one of us. We've had several sitings, but no "catches." Am still hoping to catch him/her soon.

  1. Yeah, you got one! And you got a great deal too...my friend spent $30 for hers (she bought it in a lot with a bunch of vintage stuff just to get the buttonholer!) Have fun with it!
