My friend trained with the new guide dog, Pascal, in Feb/March 2006. The Guide Dog organization keeps a close watch on their new graduates. There were some issues with Pascal, and it was agreed in early 2007 that Pascal should be retired after working just one year. There was one safety issue that could not seem to be corrected. No one wanted to risk the safety of my friend or Pascal.
What a hard decision for all! So, there is now a new guide dog, Apache. He seems to be working out fine after graduating in April. Pascal was kept by my friend which is always the option for the guide owner. He couldn’t bear to give up another so soon. Apache and Pascal get along wonderfully and what a blessing that is for all involved!
Fast forward to today. My friend went on a business trip to Las Vegas. Of course, Apache is with him—working well. My friend’s wife was having the house exterminated and called to ask if I could keep him for a couple of days. OFCOURSE—was my answer! I was a bit concerned as to how my “girls” would accept a house guest. They are both in love with him, but sometimes want to play too rough. So, they don’t all get to stay together all the time—like playmates that can have too much of one another.
Here’s Pas on the bed before I stripped the sheets this morning.
I’ve worked a bit on the “I spy” quilt—here’s a bit of it so far:
Here are some crochet trimmed socks made for a dear friend. I made some for her when the baby was born a year ago. She loved them so much—asked for more—so got more for Kayli’s 1st birthday coming up this weekend. These are so fast and easy and so far all have been well received when I’ve given them as gifts.
