School Supplies (or sewing?)

I usually walk down the "school supply" isles at the various stores when they stock up as the start of school approaches. Generally, there are some pretty good sales and I stock up on things we use at home if the price is right.

I ran into something this year at Walmart that I hadn't noticed before....a flexible ruler. Hmm, I think....that's interesting. I HAD to pick one up and see what it felt like. Hmm... it really did flex pretty well. The idea came to me that it would be great to measure curves on patterns. Sometimes I get tangled in the tape measure when I'm trying to measure a curve.



So, for $.97, I came home with a purple one. (I love purple.) See how it curves?



Here it is "straightening itself out" when I let go.




Pretty neat, huh?

    Hmmmmm, very interesting!! I just may have to look for one of those myself! Now if the sewing stores get wind of it, they'll re-package it and sell it for $9.99!!!

    I have a pink one for several years, and the thing I dislike is the fact they do get out of shape, but you can't beat the price (I got mine for a dime on the clearance sales after school started).

    Stock up. If you like them, when you need another one, they won't be found.

    I have one of those here somewhere but never thought of using it when sewing to measure curves. That is a neat idea.
