Sunday afternoon I found all my needed tools, drill, bits, level, etc and made a "location" decision. I learned a valuable tip (at least for me). I used the purple end of the "washable marker" to mark my wall with key measurements and the marks came right off with a wet cloth. Maybe you knew that--but I had never used it for that before.
Anyhow, here they are. With this location, I can use to store ironing supplies as well as some sewing supplies. I think it will be helpful for me.
AND, if finally got out my Euro Pro iron. I had put it away during the "remodel" last fall and just never dug it out. I don't know why BECAUSE it is such a dream compared the little Black and Decker I had been "getting by with." LOVE THAT STEAM!
Yesterday at church my DSis mentioned that she would like to have a dress that was a longer length, that hardly touched her made from cool fabric. I had been wanting to make something for her, but hadn't decided what she might like. Soooo, I started diving through the stash and found this lavender/white linen (or linen blend). You may remember it from my Kwik Sew skirt/blouse. I must have bought a bolt of that because I still had about 4-5 yards.
Loose dress -- hmm -- Textile Studio's Barcelona Dress. I love that pattern! So, this afternoon, I got it this far. The skirt is just basted to bodice in case I need to alter darts, and, of course, the hem is not turned up yet.
I hope to get her to try on tomorrow and I can finish. I hope she will like the pattern as much as I do. She's a bit larger than I am, so my dress form doesn't fill it out up top, but you get the idea.
You were very productive.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for the helpful tip on hemming using vanishing basting thread. Good tip and plan to try it.
I am saving the shelf photo. I hope to eventually get a bedroom remodeled and turned into a sewing room. My ironing board things like the ham, sleeve board, etc are always winding up on the floor as they don't have a real space to be stored that is handy to the board not to mention the starch and extra water in a recycled Aquafina bottle.
ReplyDeleteI really like the dress and the fabric. I think I will go have a look at the pattern if it is still available. Geez you are fast as lightning - a dress and shelves wowser. mssewcrazy
I had never thought to use the washable marker for marking walls! I always use a pencil and end up trying to erase it...and then digging in the basement for paint...but I will definitely use the water soluble marker from now on!!
