Remember this dress? Yep, way back in November. I lost interest for some reason.
It was hanging in the closet of the sewing room and I kept thinking I needed to DO SOMETHING. Well a few weeks ago, the bug bit to finish it, BUT what did I do with the sleeves that I had cut for it???? They were NOT with the very few scraps I had left. I thought, well, they will turn up and kinda put the thought of finishing it on the back burner. Well, THEY HAVE NEVER TURNED UP. Could I have tossed them? WHO KNOWS!
That meant a sleeveless dress. So after much thought on the best way to do the sleevless bit, I just turned the edges under and zig-zagged. Now I just need to decide what to do with the hem. I really can't bear the thought of doing nothing although the fabric does not ravel. I'll probably run a rolled hem along the hem with some wooly nylon.
It's a cute dress and I'll likely try to make it again now that I have the collar issue remedied (you can read about that in earlier post).
Your sleeves are having a party with my collar that I lost!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is very cute. I am so persnickety about keeping my sewing room neat and organized that I have, once or twice, gone into a cleaning frenzy and thrown away a critical pattern piece. Sigh. At least you can resolve it by making it sleeveless. I think it will be very cute that way. You should feel very good about the fact that you finished a UFO!!
ReplyDeleteIt will be cute sleeveless.
ReplyDeleteIt's been so long since I have sewn anything I don't even know what I've lost or remember the projects I was planning. At least you didn't lose the dress and keep the sleeves- the sleeves would be pretty useless without the dress so look on the bright side. That is a very pretty print- every year I say I will wear sleeveless tops and by the time I want to don one I have farmer's tan from being outside in short sleeve tops all spring. Oh well, mssewcrazy
