The Burda top is almost done. I need to hem, put in buttonholes and buttons. Check out these almost perfect buttons I found yesterday on a trip to Pursleys in Duncanville. I didn't have a scrap of fabric with me, but I knew these would be a pretty close match....well....pretty near perfect. On my monitor the colors aren't coming through, but the fabric is lime and turquoise.

Yesterday morning my sewing partner in crime and I headed to Hancocks to see what Vogue $3.99 patterns we could add to our respective collections. I made a list and left it at home. No one was looking at the one Vogue book, so I was able to look at the catalog. Here's what came home with me:

Today, the weather was threatening rain so I decided I should spend the afternoon in the sewing room. I had a bee in my bonnet to try the new blouse pattern. So, I traced off the 16 and found some "muslin" and whipped up this:

No alterations and it's going to be fine. Now I have to decide on some fabric from the stash to make up this little jewel. It went together easily. I had a bit of problem with the collar. I think I need to ease it in better as it didn't fit exactly right. I'm sure it was something I did. Whatever, that can be corrected on the "real thing."

After Hancocks, we travelled on to Pursleys Discount Fabrics in Duncanville. I can never get away from that place without buying some fabric and yesterday was no exception. Four pieces (only 3 pictured here) came home to join the stash.

I'll go into more detail on my Burda top when I complete it. I don't think I ever understood the instructions for the collar, but it's on and it looks good to me. I did cut the collar differently and I'll explain that in my next post. I need to go start dinner.

  1. I like your new Burda blouse. I tried this pattern and it didn't work out for me yet. I had limited time before vacation and had to set it aside. Even though I used my usual 14 and altered from there is was too tight in the neck area. That was a first. I think I might have traced a line wrong, so I'll have to recheck that. I love the seersucker strip you chose. It is very summery. Thanks for reminding me about this pattern. I'll have to revisit it.
