I was trying to show the stripes to you better in this closeup. Don't know how well it will come through on the monitors.
On Tuesday, our ASG group headed off to shop. I think I mentioned that. Well, I really tried to be good and not bring lots home. I would have done better, but there was just some deals I COULD NOT PASS UP. Silk for $1.00/yd. Could you pass that up?
The yellow is rayon/lycra knit. I can't help myself from buying rayon/lycra knit when it's "my colors." I LOVE that stuff! The beige and the green is the raw silk. There were only these two bolts each with 12 yds. Beige is not really me, but it can be dyed. Eve, my sewing buddy, and I each bought a bolt and we will share, each getting 6 yds. This stuff is soooo soft. 12 yards of silk for $12. Wow. Then, the lady at the store showed us the checked silk dupioni that exactly matched the green raw silk. It was marked $5, but offered it to us for $4/yd. I had to have 3 yds. Can you blame me?
The lighter (looks pink on my monitor) is really white wide striped seersucker. The darker in the left lower corner is one yard of slinky. It will match an orphan slinky skirt I already have.
I got some more white cotton that is not pictured.
So..........I have to add 22.5 yards of fabric in the incoming of my tracking log. Oh well.
Then this morning I went to a pre-garage sale. One of our guild members is gearing down with her sewing due to some illness. She is selling some of her sewing things as well as some general garage sale "stuff." She offered to let our guild members come to pre-shop before the real sale starts tomorrow.
Here are some of the things I came home with:
Now I really need to head to the sewing room and put that zipper in the pink Burda WOF dress. We are expecting storms this afternoon, so I wanted to get the blog updated before we lost the internet service (which happens in storms sometimes).
I really love reading your blog. You have such interesting sewing adventures. Love the skirt with the godet. You did such a nice job on matching the stripes. Can't wait to see what all comes from your sewing room.
