This is the Louise Cutting/Linda Lee "Shapes" Six Sense Skirt. I was hoping this would turn out to be a wearable muslin, and it is. I just need to find the right shade of red or green for a top. I *may* have something in the stash, but haven't taken time to look just yet. I am happy with it. I will do a review on PR later this evening. And, yes, I will make another one. Edited to add PR review link here.
Thinking this would make a good "short notice errand dress," I picked it up at the half price sale at the Genesis Center (resale shop) a while back without trying it on. The bodice was too tight--I could hardly breathe! At first, I thought it would go to the donation box, but today after the skirt was finished, I got energetic and came up with this:
As you can see, I took the top applique off and made it into the pocket. I'm always needing a pocket for keys or sunglasses. You can see from the following photo, the embroidery was a mass of loose and jump threads.
Not wanting to get fingers, keys, etc, hung up in the threads, I ironed on fusible knit interfacing before sewing it on as the pocket.
Easy project. Cut off the bodice, decided on the length and cut the top to adjust the length so I could use the existing hem, sewed on the elastic; and there it was! Add one t-shirt from the closet and I'm ready for that quick trip to the post office!
I picked up this little jewel for $2.50 at a thrift shop. I'm not sure that it was ever used. As you see, it's original life was to be a spice rack, but at my house, it will find a home in the sewing room. I figure it will come in handy for those little things that I always need and can never find. This way, I can see them through the glass!
As a final note and not a fun one, we had to give up Sis's dear little girl Maggie Mae. She was the Boxer that had been very sick for a couple of weeks. She's now romping with our other former beloved pets at the Rainbow Bridge. Thankfully, Sis has two other boxers to keep her company during this lonely time.
