The top is from the Kwik Sew pattern I made a couple of months back in the lavender/white linen blend. I lenthened the top by 2 inches and I dropped the bust dart 1 inch from that first version. The fabric is cotton that I got for $.50/yd. Bright colors, aren't they?
Below is a shot to show how I like to make my back facings deeper than the patterns call for. On this one, I top stitched around the outline, but the fabric is so busy, you don't see the top stitching. That's OK, the stitching still serves the purpose of holding the facing in place.
Haven't gotten in the sewing room in two days as yesterday, I had company and today I had errands and then met a friend for a late lunch. At lunch, I noticed that one of my tires was low, so I had to stop in at the tire shop. They found a nail that I had picked up--ugh!, but they got it fixed and had me on my way pretty quickly. So, I got home around 4 p.m. in time to start thinking about dinner.
Yesterday, some patterns I had won on e-bay arrived in the mail, and in the afternoon, the UPS man delivered two pieces of fabric from Fabric Mart. No chance to get photos today, so I'll try to post those to share tomorrow. I want to stay home tomorrow and hibernate in the sewing room!!!
Those are nice scrubs and at .50 yd a fabulous price. I have two pricey pairs for my daughter in vet school that need hemming right now. The fabric or the style of the bought ones leaves lots to be desired. I have not tried making hers as they only let them wear them at clinics or surgery, etc. and it is the devil to get her to do a fitting much less put a tape measure around her for one second. I guess the vet school tries to reform them from blue jean days at college or sleeping in their scrubs and coming to school as many probably would. You are amazing getting so much sewing done and all the other stuff you do. Keep up the good work! mssewcrazy
