Dress Almost Done

This is the Pattern Maker dress that I added some below the waist flair. It's very simple and I think I'm going to enjoy it. I may "sculp" the darts a bit to pull it in a bit more just under the bust and along the waist area. I'm going to try to do that later today. Then it just needs the hem done and the sleeve hems done.

Friend and I went to our favorite "garment district" fabric places in Dallas yesterday. Her DGD is in town and they were looking for dressy fabric for evening wear. DGD is the wife of an Air Force pilot, and she has a need for some evening dresses for dinners, parties, etc.

I tried to be frugal. I picked up some double knit with lycra for slacks for Sis and me--3 yards at $1/yd. Got some small print rayon (4yds) from one of the remant boxes at $2/yd. I'll probably use it as jacket lining at some point. Two yards of black rayon with daisies for a gored skirt and finally, some floral rayon lycra knit for a summer dress (3 yards).

So, that gets added to the "yards in" tracking. I saw lots of other things that tempted me, but I tried to be strong!

When I got home, I found the box from Fabric.com with the rayon knit and the flannel--so that brings up the yards in a few more notches.

Now to sew some each day the rest of the week. I must, I must, I must!!!!

  1. Those are my kind of bargains! $1 and $2 a yard, Wow! They sound like pretty fabrics, I'm looking forward to seeing what you make from them.

Your dress is very nice. I really like the color!
