First off the table was some community service work. I made two pair of pull on pants, size 2, to go with two more of those orphaned tops that had been given to the Rainbow Room. Green corduroy (which finished up that remant I had from who knows what) and red/black checked bonded chenille remants given to me by my sewing buddy, Eve. These will be delivered next Tuesday.
Next up: pants for me. I've had this corduroy fabric for a few months. It came from Super Textiles in Dallas. The fabric is so very soft, and it has lycra. Sometimes lycra and I don't get along so well, but today was a good day.
I used Kwik Sew 3087. It's a pattern I've used numerous times for light weight fabrics. I wasn't sure how this would work, but I can say I'm happy with the way it turned out. I copied pockets from an old RTW pair. I just traced off the pocket on to pattern paper and added seam allowances. Worked out well for me.
Since these photos were taken, I have taken in the side and inseam seams about .5" at each seam. I like the narrower leg better. These are elastic waist (OK, I'm an ol' lady--I HAVE become my mother!) and I wanted to keep the elastic, but to avoid some of the "bulk" I took in the back and side seams as if to add a dart at the top and I added 2 darts in the back. I think you'll see in the photos that in some places, you can't tell they are elastic waist pants. Anyhow, I think I going to be really happy with them. I just need to sew the elastic waist down and hem them. I hate hemming and I'm not sure why!

ReplyDeleteLOL! Me too! It's so funny the way that happens.
I like the pants, especially those pockets. Did you add those--I don't see them on the pattern?
